Key Lime Pie Recipe

Ingredients:
For the Crust:

- 1 tablespoon key lime zest
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

- 1 cup heavy cream
- 2 tablespoons powdered sugar
- Additional key lime zest for garnish
Instructions:
1. Prepare the Crust:
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Combine the graham cracker crumbs, sugar, and melted butter in a medium-sized mixing basin.
- In a 9-inch pie dish, press the mixture firmly into the bottom and up the edges.
- Bake the crust in the preheated oven for 10 minutes or until it’s lightly golden. After taking it out of the oven, let it cool.
2. Make the Filling:
- In a large bowl, whisk the egg yolks until they are well beaten.
- Add the sweetened condensed milk, key lime juice, key lime zest, and vanilla extract. Mix until everything is well combined.
- Fill the cooled graham cracker crust with the filling.
3. Bake the Pie:
- Place the pie in the preheated oven and bake for 15 minutes. The filling should be firm but not burnt.
- Allow the pie to cool to room temperature after removing it from the oven.
4. Chill the Pie:
- Once the pie has cooled to room temperature, refrigerate it for at least 2 hours or until it’s fully chilled.
5. Prepare the Topping:
- Before serving, whip the heavy cream and powdered sugar together until stiff peaks form.
- Spread the cold pie with the whipped cream.
6. Garnish and Serve:
- Grate some additional key lime zest over the whipped cream for added flavor and presentation.
